Perspectives on Cinema

Oxygen is a non-flammable gas.  It's dangerous to smoke or use an open flame near a source of concentrated oxygen because the gas will lower the ignition point and increase the flammability of combustible substances, i.e. clothing, bedsheets, cannula tubing or the flesh on a smoker's face.  However, a flame will not travel up a stream of oxygen, ignite its source and trigger an explosion.

Other than that, I really liked Deadpool.

Some Other Person:  Oh, that's total bullshit.  Did you hear what Megan Fox just said? She said that car had a high-rise double pump carburetor but you can see it's a fuel injection setup.
Me:  And cars don't turn into robots.  I'm trying to watch this.

Doom II, the sequel to the groundbreaking first person shooter, set new records in video game retail and considerably raised the bar for the franchise's competitors which, by Autumn 1994, were numerous and aggressive.  For all its success, it was never adapted to an upright cabinet arcade game -- that industry having been long ago eclipsed by the strident advances in home gaming systems and the emerging home computer market share.

But still, I can hardly think of a film I love more than Grosse Pointe Blank.

Some Other Person:  Did you see that?  For half of the battle scene they were using M16's and then for no reason, they had M16A1's.  You'd think a movie like Commando would be more serious about the way they depict firearms.
Me:  It's a movie.  Leave me alone.

MIDI (an acronym for Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a standardized digital protocol that allows communication between electronic instruments. Since the early 1980's, when it was first implemented, any instrument so equipped could receive or send data along a sixteen channel data path and become part of a broader network of devices, irrespective of manufacturer or function.  The pop music of the early-MIDI era is easily identified by characteristics which emerged naturally from its use, such as rigid tempo, percussive synth ostinatos and heavy reliance on a small set of preset voices found on the most widely used MIDI devices --the net effect sounding nothing at all like music from the early sixties.

Aside from that, I have no real problem with Dirty Dancing.

Some Other Person:  You know, it's impossible that Khan recognized Chekov as an Enterprise crewman because Walter Koenig didn't join the cast of TOS until season two and Kahn was only on board in season one, episode 22.
Me:  Shut up, shut up, shut up...

Regardless of the role in which he is cast, no one seems to like Shia LaBeouf.

Some Other Person:  I don't like that Shia LaBeouf
Me:  Neither do I.
